SHHS Information Form LBMS Information Form
Required Forms: Certain forms are required before an athlete may participate in practices (including weight lifting and dryland) or meets. Please note that the Physical Form must be signed by a physician and dated after May 1, 2020.
For Science Hill: We are using an online platform called DragonFly MAX to submit these forms. Click HERE to access instructions.
For Liberty Bell: You will need to go to the Forms page on this website, print off the forms, and turn them in to Coach Chris by the first day of practice.
GENERAL TRAINING SCHEDULE: The training schedule is designed to provide the opportunity for each athlete to perform at his/her best at the Championship Meets. We do have practices during school breaks and off days. Why? Because the school schedule is not designed to pursue excellence in the sport of Swimming and Diving.
INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE WE ARE ON THE 2020-2021 SEASON (Updated December 3, 2020):
I want to thank everyone for their patience as we work toward a swimming and diving season for the high school and middle school programs. It is taking a lot of coordination and discussion among teams in the area and the state to make this happen for the athletes involved. While these discussions and plans are continuing, here is what we have at the moment.
High School Swimming & Diving
We had a very competitive Maroon & Gold Meet on December 1. Thank you to all the athletes and parents who did their parts to make it a huge success!
Decisions on the State Championship Meet will be made later in the season. That meet will be on or around April 23-24, 2021. The three-option format that was previously discussed was ratified by TISCA. Option 1 will occur if circumstances allow a larger gathering of people than is currently permitted. That option will have the State Meet over 2 days as in the past on April 23-24 in Knoxville, TN. Option 2 will occur if numbers on the deck must be reduced to roughly half of what is normal. In that case, the girls’ and boys’ State Meets will be held separately. The girls’ meet will be on either April 21-22 or April 22-23; The boys’ meet will be either April 23-24 or April 24-25. Both meets will be in Knoxville. Option 3 will occur if smaller group gatherings are required. It will consist of 8-10 regional meets in the state, with results being transmitted to one person who will consolidate all times to determine event placings. These meets will be during the same time frame as the first two options. The exact format of these meets is still under discussion.
The meet schedule is a work in progress, as many teams have not begun to plan their seasons yet. I do have a couple of meets scheduled, but there are others I need to nail down.
Speaking of meets: Due to COVID requirements, they will not look like meets we have held in the past. I am working with SHHS, other teams, and the pool to create procedures and opportunities which will allow our athletes to have a great experience while accommodating spectators either inside or outside of the venues.
Liberty Bell Middle School Team
The LBMS Swimming & Diving Team will not start up until January, 2021. Like the past few years, it will be a shorter season. Current plans are to run the Middle School Championship Meet on or about February 27. The meet schedule is still a work in progress, as many middle schools have not begun their season planning yet.
There will be a required Zoom parent/athlete meeting on Thursday, December 17, at 6:30 PM. See the Announcements page for details.
Required forms will be posted on the team website and must be completed and turned in prior to the first day of practice.
What to do NOW:
Those athletes that are currently training (either on the Barracuda club team or on their own) are doing exactly what they need to be doing at this time. Those who are putting in the work now will be way ahead of everyone else.
Those swimmers and divers who still need to get a preseason physical should do so now so they can be ready to practice on Day 1. This physical must be dated after April 15, 2020.
LBMS athletes will have to print their forms out from the website, complete them, then physically turn them in. Also, click on the LBMS Team Information Form link and fill it out completely. Do this earlier rather than later so I can see the number of swimmers and divers I need to accommodate this season.
Students should stay up with their studies, whether they are going to school physically or staying totally online. They will be doing their part to remain academically eligible to compete and lessen the anxiety associated with falling behind in a class and then having to scramble to get caught up.
